Ficano Relieved To Know Progress Being Made On Debt Deal

DETROIT (WWJ) - Some public officials in Metro Detroit are glad the deficit cutting deal is closer to passage.

Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano says it's scary when there's too much of an extreme in the government to drive national policy. He's been worried how Wayne County would be affected.

"In a general area ... our bond rating ... in the borrowing, would have cost us more money. We're pleased they were able to get it passed," said Ficano.

Ficano was with Mayor Dave Bing and Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel as they took a boat tour or Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River to promote regional partnership in developing the waterfront.
