Interview: New Director Of Detroit Metro Airport

ROMULUS (WWJ) - There's a new woman in charge of Detroit Metro Airport.

Turkia Awada Mullin has been named the airport's new director. Mullin has never run an airport before, but she tells WWJ Newsradio 950 that her experience as Wayne County's Economic Development Director makes her a good fit for the job.

"Having excellent relations with people in the business community, I'm going to be able to leverage that. I have a great deal of knowledge and familiarity with the Aerotropolis, being one of the architects in it," she said.

"Imagine if we bring in thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in investment for the region -- how many other families does that impact?" Mullin said.

"So, that's what I'm occupied with, and I'm really, you know, focused on that. And I'm not going to be discouraged or deterred by media reports that, half of which aren't even true or accurate," she said.
