Man Escapes Plane Crash With Leg Injury

GILFORD TOWNSHIP (AP) - Authorities say the 58-year-old pilot of an ultralight plane escaped with a leg injury after the aircraft lost power and went down in a Tuscola County farm field.

The Saginaw News reports Robert Parsell of Caro apparently wasn't sure if he could get the plane over power lines in Gilford Township on Friday, so he went under them.

The plane then crashed into a corn field about 80 miles northwest of Detroit.

Parsell was able to call authorities for help using a mobile phone.
