Funeral Arrangements Made For Eleanor Josaitis

DETROIT (WWJ) - Funeral arrangements have been finalized for Eleanor Josaitis.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Church of the Madonna on Oakland Boulevard in Detroit, with a scripture service at 7 p.m., the small church located not far from Focus Hope.

A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament on Woodward in Detroit.

Josaitis, 79, died early Tuesday morning at Angela Hospice in Livonia, where she spent the past several days. She was diagnosed with cancer less than one year ago.

Together with the late Rev. William Cunningham, Eleanor took the lead in helping to heal and unite Detroit after the 1967 riots by creating Focus: HOPE, which in time became one of our city's true crown jewels.
