Man Dies While Cutting Trees In Washtenaw County
FREEDOM TOWNSHIP (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a 40-year-old St. Johns man died while cutting trees in a wooded area of Washtenaw County.
According to police, Stanley Grubaugh died Tuesday after a tree fell on him in Freedom Township, located near Manchester about 50 miles southwest of Detroit. Authorities say two other workers were with him at the time, and they weren't injured.
Calling the whole thing an accident, Andrea Grubaugh, Stanley Grubaugh's sister-in-law, told AnnArbor.com a tree he cut fell into another tree, and a limb from that tree fell and struck him.
Stanley Grubaugh co-owned St. Johns-based S & J Logging and traveled around the state doing work for the business.
