Police Stepping Up Efforts To Sideline Drunk Drivers

DETROIT (WWJ) - A new statewide drunken driving crackdown begins on Friday, and will run through September 5th.

The "Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest." campaign and stepped up enforcement are part of a federally funded effort run through the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning.

The state says the aim is to reduce alcohol-involved fatalities when they are at their peak from June to September.
