Mexican National Arrested While Attempting To Register As Sex Offender
MARYSVILLE (WWJ) - U.S. Border Patrol Agents and Michigan State Police arrested a Mexican National Aug. 6 as he was registering as a convicted sex offender in Richmond.
Michigan State Troopers contacted the Marysville Border Patrol Station after Virginio Medrano De La Torre attempted to register as a sex offender. Border Patrol record checks revealed Medrano De La Torre had been previously convicted in 1994 of Gross Sexual Imposition against a 14-year-old girl in the state of Oregon.
Marysville Station Patrol Agent in Charge, Jim Crawford stated "This is a great example of state and federal law enforcement authorities working together to take a dangerous individual off our streets and out of our community."
Medrano De La Torre was taken into custody by Border Patrol Agents and is currently awaiting deportation proceedings.
