Grosse Pointe Holds 5th Annual 'Greatest Block Party'

GROSSE POINTE (WWJ) - Get ready to party! The fifth annual Grosse Pointe's Greatest Block Party takes place Saturday and Sunday Sept. 10 and 11 on Kercheval Avenue between Neff and Cadieux in The Village, Downtown Grosse Pointe.

This annual festival of food, music, art and kid's activities celebrates the time-honored tradition of the neighborhood block party and brings 8,000 to 10,000 people right into the heart of Downtown Grosse Pointe.

This year, the inaugural Village Car Show will feature classics from all eras including antiques, hot rods, muscle cars, exotics and the legendary High & Mighty Ramchargers dragster.

Taste of Grosse Pointe will take place during the block party on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Festival goers will be able to sample menu specialties from 16 popular area restaurants, including Blue Bay Fish & Seafood Co., City Kitchen, Pierogi Gals and Salvatore Scallopini.

There's also a Saturday night dance party, a juried art fair, Sunday afternoon "Pooch Parade," live entertainment, village merchants and plenty of activities for the kids.
