Metro Detroiters Weigh In On Obama's Plan To Increase Taxes On Wealthy

DETROIT (WWJ) - No shortage of opinions from Metro Detroiters to President Obama's plan to increase taxes on the wealthy.  WWJ's Mike Campbell gets local reaction in this report from Detroit.

President Barack Obama says his proposal to raise taxes on the richest Americans "is not class warfare" but "math." Obama says the revenue hikes are needed to help cut soaring deficits by more than $3 trillion.

WWJ spoke with Billy Foster while he was waiting at bus stop: "The taxes for the rich are at the lowest they've been in years, and they still haven't did no hiring for the last 10 years, they have been laying people off in droves, so I think that's the best policy that Obama can come up with," said Foster.

Foster says in regards to the comments about 'class warfare' it depends on whether you are looking from the bottom up or the top down ... as to who has been at war.

Roosevelt Knight of Detroit says that President Obama could be on to something.

"If the millionaires, the billionaires got the money to help out ... yes, they should help out, because the only people suffering is the people that's on the row boats ... they are on yachts," said Knight.
