Ann Arbor Firm Offers Federal Grant Training For Small Biz

Ann Arbor-based BBCetc is offering Michigan companies seminars to learn more about writing winning proposals for the federal Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology transfer programs.

If you are new to the process, there's an SBIR/STTR 101 class. Those with some experience who want a class targeted at grants from the National Science Foundation have a more advanced class, as do those seeking grants from the National Institutes of Health.

The schedule is as follows:

* SBIR/STTR Proposal Preparation - NSF focus: Friday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Biotechnology Business Consultants, 803 N. Main St., Ann Arbor. Cost is $75 for companies based in Michigan and $150 for those based elsewhere.

* SBIR/STTR Proposal Preparation - NIH focus, in collaboration with the West Michigan Science and Technology Initiative: Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the WMSTI office, Cook DeVos Center for Health Sciences, Grand Valley State University, 301 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids. Cost is $150 for Michigan-based companies and $250 for those based elsewhere.

* SBIR/STTR Proposal Preparation - NIH focus, in collaboration with UMMS Business Development: Monday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University of Michigan North Campus Research Complex, 2800 Plymouth Road, Ann Arbor. Cost is $150 for Michigan-based companies and $250 for those based elsewhere.

* SBIR/STTR 101: Introduction & Overview, in collaboration with WMSTI: Monday, Oct. 10 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the WMSTI office, Cook DeVos Center for Health Sciences, Grand Valley State University, 301 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids. Cost is $50 for Michigan companies and $100 for those based elsewhere.
