Porcello On The Mound For Pivotal Game 4
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Rick Porcello (14-9) will be making his first post-season start for Detroit. The Yankees will try to stay alive behind A.J. Burnett, who's suffered through a disappointing 11-11 season.
The Yankees' hopes of pushing the series to a fifth and deciding game rest on the arm of unreliable starter A.J. Burnett. The $82.5 million pitcher wasn't supposed to get a start in this series, but the suspension of Friday's Game 1 forced both teams to alter their pitching plans.
Delmon Young, acquired in mid-August from Minnesota, cracked a tiebreaking opposite field home run in the seventh inning of the Tigers' 5-4 win over the Yanks.
Burnett was 11-11 with a 5.15 ERA in the regular season.
This game gets under way at 8:37 p.m.
If the Tigers win the series they will take on Texas next.
