Lowe Foundation Stores Data At Online Tech

ANN ARBOR -- The Edward Lowe Foundation, a Cassopolis-based nonprofit organization that supports entrepreneurship through research, recognition and educational programs, has selected Ann Arbor-based Online Tech for high availability colocation services.

Online Tech's data center offers Lowe Foundation Web sites more security, reliability and high availability.

Those Web sites include www.edwardlowe.org, www.youreconomy.org, www.nationalcentereg.org and www.companiestowatch.org.

Located in rural southwest Michigan proved to be a challenge for the Lowe Foundation with inconsistent bandwidth and power outages. As the company's Web sites grew in popularity and more tools were added to the sites, they had difficulty keeping up with demand. Also, the Foundation began selling services and partnering with outside companies and now had the responsibility to deliver quality services by improving their sites' reliability and high availability.

"As we begin selling services and delivering data to partners like Nasdaq it was obvious that we had to have a solid solution," says Chris Ryback, the foundation's manager of technical and digital media.

Then the foundation experienced a fire in their building. The data center was spared, but it was the deciding factor that it was time to partner with a managed data center for improved security, reliability and availability.

Partnering with Online Tech gives the Lowe Foundation a high availability IT framework that ensures that critical data and applications are always secure and always available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Online Tech's data centers, located 53 miles apart, are interconnected with dedicated gigabit fiber for Internet traffic failover and routing of backup and disaster recovery data between data centers.

"We could not replicate the IT infrastructure we get with Online Tech's data centers," Ryback said. "By partnering with Online Tech we don't have to worry about our infrastructure and can focus on what is important to us -- being a thought leader in business.,"

Online Tech serves a growing demand for data and computing capacity in small and mid-size businesses. Through its high availability SAS 70 data centers, Online Tech delivers a range of hosting services including colocation, managed dedicated servers, private cloud hosting, and disaster recovery. Online Tech's Michigan data centers operate under SSAE 16 compliance, allowing its clients to meet all of their PCI compliant hosting, HIPAA compliant hosting, and SOX compliant hosting needs.
