FernCare Free Clinic Moves Into Permanent Home In Ferndale

FERNDALE (WWJ) - After three years of fundraising, and one year of operating a set-up/tear-down clinic at Ferndale's Kulick Community Center, the FernCare Free Clinic has officially moved into its permanent home at 459 East Nine Mile Road in Ferndale.

FernCare Free clinic serves uninsured people between the ages of 19 and 64 from all around the Detroit metro area, providing medical care, laboratory services, free generic prescriptions, benefits and social work services and referrals for specialty care to over 170 patients.

To celebrate its grand opening, the clinic is holding a day-long open house for the community on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

FernCare's new home, which is owned by Credit Union One, has undergone a major interior renovation. Over 85% of renovation costs were provided in-kind or managed by volunteer construction and interior design professionals, resulting in a $230,000 project being completed for $30,000.
