Woman Ejected From Car The Lone Survivor Of Rollover Crash

HAZEL PARK (WWJ) - Two people were killed and one woman is left in critical condition after their car rolled over on I-75 in Hazel Park Wednesday night, according to Michigan State Police.

WWJ's Ron Dewey spoke with police, who said the accident happened between 10 and 10:30 p.m. on the southbound side of I-75 where Ferndale meets Hazel Park.

Investigators say the car was driving southbound on I-75 just before 8 Mile Road when the 21-year-old man at the wheel lost control and skidded to the right, hitting a retaining wall.

The car rolled over and a 20-year-old woman was ejected from the car. The driver and a 26-year-old female passenger were pinned underneath the car and pronounced dead at the scene. All three were Sterling Heights residents.

Police say remarkably, the lone survivor of the crash was the woman who was ejected from the vehicle. She was last reported in critical condition at an area hospital.

Police say at this time they are unable to determine if safety belts were used or what exactly led the vehicle to lose control. The victims names have yet to be released.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who may have any information to contact them at 313-237-2450.
