NEF To Meet On 'Scaling The Business': Ann Arbor's New Enterprise Forum will meet Thursday, Oct. 20 on the topic "Scaling The Business." Every business is founded with the hope of growth and success, but perhaps not with actual planning for potential rapid expansion or attention to short- or long-term saleability. Scale issues, though, need to be part of your planning from the get-go -- even if the plan is not to scale up. The New Enterprise Forum's October panel will help entrepreneurs see the bigger picture -- and to plan what's right for their business. Panelists are Michelle Crumm, co-founder of Adaptive Materials Inc., Bill Wagner, co-founder of SRT Solutions, and Yan Ness, CEO of Online Tech. The moderator is Jack K. Ahrens II, a founding general partner of TGap Venture Capital Funds of Kalamazoo, a venture capital fund that has raised more than $46 million, and chairman of the Great Lakes Entrepreneur Quest. The meeting begins with networking at 5 p.m. and the program at 5|:45 at the Holiday Inn North Campus, 3600 Plymouth Road, Ann Arbor. The event is free to members, $20 for nonmembers and $5 for students. Program partners for this event are the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce and the Great Lakes Entrepreneur's Quest. The stakeholder sponsor is the University of Michigan Department of Technology Transfer. For more info, visit www.NewEnterpriseForum.org or call (734) 665-4433.
