GL-SPIN, Broadsword To Talk Compuware, CMMI: The Great Lakes Software Process Improvement Network and its Gold Sponsor, Broadsword, will offer "Compuware's Journey to CMMI Level 3" by Steve Seligson on Thursday, Nov. 10 at Bastone Brewery, 419 S. Main St. in Royal Oak. The meeting will feature a discussion on Compuware's journey in implementing the CMMI framework for the Professional Services Division.  The story will start with gaining executive approval on scope and budget, selecting a partner, building the SEPG and SIGs, and using AgileCMMI to define process artifacts. Seligson started in the industry in 1969, and he joined Compuware in 1989. He worked with a variety of clients including Bethlehem Steel, Delux Labs, IBM, and GM.  Steve is currently leading the Professional Services Division at Compuware in Detroit, towards their goal of a CMMI Level 3 appraisal in the third quarter of 2012. MVCA To Celebrate Award Winners At Annual Dinner: The Michigan Venture Capital Association will recognize several Michigan venture firms, investment professionals, and two venture-backed entrepreneurs for their successes at its annual awards dinner Nov. 7 in Plymouth.  The statewide membership organization will honor MVCA "100 Award" winner Arboretum Ventures of Ann Arbor, for closing a venture fund over $100 million ($140 million Arboretum Ventures III, L.P., closed in August); Capital Event of the Year, the $250 million Venture Michigan Fund II, with MVCA members Tom Kinnear (University of Michigan Ross School of Business); Kelly Williams (Credit Suisse CFIG); Charlie Rothstein (Beringea); and David Parsigian (Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn); Venture Exit of the Year Accuri Cytometers, for its 2011 sale to Becton Dickinson, with MVCA member investors  Arboretum Ventures, Baird Venture Partners, Flagship, Credit Suisse CFIG, and Plymouth Ventures Partners; and Jennifer Baird, initial CEO of Accuri Cytometers and current CEO of venture-backed Accio Energy, along with Accuri founder Colin Rich, will be named MVCA Entrepreneurs of the Year.
