Memorial Held For Hope College Student Struck By Train

HOLLAND (AP) - Authorities say an 18-year-old Hope College freshman has died after being struck by a freight train near the edge of the school's campus in Holland, Michigan.

Joshua P. Boerigter of Portage was struck Monday night by a CSX train at a crossing near the school's Art Center. The 2011 graduate of Portage Northern High School was known by friends and professors as "JP."

Hundreds of Hope College students gathered Tuesday for a memorial service.
