WARREN (WWJ) – A pastor at a church in Warren has been put on administrative leave after an allegation of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Sixty-six-year-old Gary Schulte – who has been with St. Sylvester Parish for 17 years – has also been restricted from any public ministry.

In September, an allegation was received by the Victim Assistance Coordinator of the misconduct involving Father Schulte dating back to the early years of his ministry in the Detroit archdiocese.

Father Thomas Sutherland, a senior priest, will serve as temporary administrator of St. Sylvester Parish.

It’s been eight years since the Diocese spoke an investigation such as this one.
