Azulstar Expands Into Lansing, Kalamazoo, Muskegon

GRAND HAVEN -- The wireless Internet service provider AzulStar announced Wednesday that it is expanding into the Lansing, Kalamazoo and Muskegon areas.

The move gives owners of apartment complexes and other multi-tenant buildings another option for providing wireless Internet service to their tenants, while sharing in the profits with AzulStar. Municipalities and public institutions are also target markets.

Connection speeds are available at up to one gigabit per second at what AzulStar calls "very affordable prices."

"Lansing, Kalamazoo and Muskegon represent major regions of government, education and renewed growth within Michigan," said AzulStar chairman and CEO Tyler van Houwelingen. "We're very pleased to extend our regional high-speed wireless network to these new areas, along with the assurance of faster speeds, better prices and unlimited usage."

For apartment complex and commercial property owners, this means they can provide a better Internet service to tenants at more affordable rates while sharing in the profits. Tenants simply find the building's Wi-Fi network using their own computer, smartphone or tablet, select their speed plan and have access to very high speed Internet within minutes.

"Because we own and operate these networks end-to-end, we can offer what the phone and cable companies don't – attractive prices, local support and faster installations along with business class services and reliability," van Houwelingen said.

AzulStar's Gigabit Wireless service provides businesses a lower priced replacement for an existing connection or a hot back-up to an existing wired connection, making it the first viable commercial-grade back-up option available within these markets.  The innovative wireless service has also powered intelligent transportation for the department of transportation, providing commuter-rail wireless Internet and enhanced traffic coordination.

AzulStar partnered with wireless equipment leaders including Dragonwave to expand the high performance 5G-class fixed wireless network.

"Dragonwave has developed a suite of microwave solutions that successfully enable leading providers to undertake rapid, cost-effective market expansion," said Greg Friesen, Dragonwave's vice president for product management. "Our products deliver the high capacity, ultra-low latency and carrier-class reliability that AzulStar requires as it expands its Gigabit wireless services to new markets."

AzulStar offers its service directly as well as through leading system Integrators and orders for service are now being taken in the new markets. For more information regarding the availability of AzulStar's wireless Internet services, call (616) 842-2763 or visit www.AzulStar.com.
