Fire Breaks Out At Tire Recycling Facility

DETROIT (WWJ) - A lot of smoke on Detroit's northeast side -- after fire breaks out at a recycling facility.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Ron Dewey -- reporting from the scene -- saw firefighters putting out hotspots on the building. The building is situated on the corner of Groesbeck and 8 Mile Road, where thick black smoke enveloped the entire intersection. The building recycles old tires into packaging foam.

No word yet as to the origin or the cause of the fire. That's going to be part of an investigation that will follow the clean-up, but right now firefighters are on top of the roof with flashlights making sure that they put out all of the hotspots.

No injuries. Nobody at the building when the fire broke out Monday morning.
