HAMTRAMCK (WWJ) – A Hamtramck man convicted of having sex with a 15-year old, and tied to the case of a missing girl, has lost his appeal.

The 25-year-old Jamrul Hussain, who was convicted two years ago of criminal sexual conduct, was also the last person to see two-year old, Tangena Hussain, alive before she disappeared.

Hussain argued in his appeal that his Miranda rights were inadequate because they were not translated into his native language of Bengali, and that the court failed to suppress two statements he made to investigators.

The appeals court said Hussain was fluent in English and he voluntarily gave information to police. He will spend up to 15 years in prison.
