October Unemployment Figures Drop In Michigan

DETROIT (WWJ) - Unemployment fell in October in all 17 of Michigan's major labor markets.

The state agency that released the figures says the overall jobless rate last month was 9.2 percent, compared with 10.1 percent in September.

The state says the lower numbers reflect seasonal reductions in the work force.

The Detroit region still has the state's highest unemployment rate, at 10.8 percent, but that's better than October, 2010, when the rate was 12.2 percent.

The Ann Arbor region, at 5.7 percent, has the state's lowest unemployment rate.
