Detroit Schools Celebrate Cass Tech Football Title
DETROIT (AP) — Emergency financial manager Roy Roberts and other Detroit Public Schools officials will acknowledge Cass Tech as the state's Division 1 football champion.
A ceremony is scheduled at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the school's auditorium.
The district says Cass Tech is the first Detroit Public School to win the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 title. Cass Tech defeated Detroit Catholic Central 49-13 Saturday at Ford Field to finish the season at 11-3.
Detroit King High School won the state Division 2 title in 2007.
