Sentencing Due For Trailer Fire Mom

DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit-area mother convicted of murder for setting a mobile-home fire that killed two of her children is returning to court for a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

Sharon Hinojosa was convicted of first-degree murder Nov. 9.

Authorities say she intentionally set a fire that trapped and killed her 4-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter in a mobile home in Huron Township in 2009. Police say Hinojosa fled with another child, a 1-year-old boy.

The sentencing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning in Wayne County Circuit Court.

At trial, a police officer testified that Hinojosa wrote an apology while being questioned after the fire. The mobile home belonged to her boyfriend, father of the surviving child.
