Sara's Blog: Expect A Different Kind Of Santa This Year

This bums me out, but I can see how it happened. Because the economy took a nosedive over the last few years, you may see a change in how Santa interacts with your child. The theme for many mall Santa's this year is "lowered expectations".

Most Santa's have always worked under the rule to never promise anything. But this year, the Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School in Midland, Michigan is going one step further. They have been teaching their prospective Santa's how to quickly size up a family's financial status. That way, if a child asks for things that may be pricey, Santa can steer the child into scaling back.

The Santa's are even trained on how to handle questions like, "Can you get my dad a job?" The big guy will try to get the child to talk about toys or say, "Santa specializes in toys, but we can pray for the other."
