Good Question: Why Was Metro Beach Re-Named?

What's in a name? Only time will tell, because one of the most popular attractions in Macomb County got a new moniker Thursday.

Remember Metro Beach? Erase it from your memory bank. The waterfront park in Harrison Township where thousands of metro Detroiters swim, inline skate, run, bike, and hang out with family and friends has a brand new name.

It's now the Lake St. Clair Metropark. With little fanfare, the Huron-Clinton Metropark Authority Board of Commissioners decided unanimously to re-name the park.

"We want the name to better reflect the variety of activities and facilities offered at the park," Anthony Marrocco, chairman of the board of commissioners, said in a statement Thursday.

So, do you like the new name? Let us know in comments.
