The Winter Weather Has Many Traveling To Warmer Climates

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - It's peak time not just at area stores and shopping malls -- but for one local travel agency.

WWJ's Kathryn Larson spoke with Cadillac Travel agency owner David Fishman.

Fishman says most travelers want to go some place warm and sunny for the holidays with many opting for the Dominican Republic.

He says if you are planning to visit family -- consider booking your flight or traveling by car on the day of Christmas or New Year's Eve.

But Fishman says most aren't traveling for as long as they used to:

" ... so instead of taking that week or 10 day trip, you may see someone taking two or three --- three and four day trips throughout the year," said Fishman.

Fishman says if you're traveling home --- his best advice -- buy the travel insurance -- and remain flexible.  He suggests flying on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.  Often those dates are overlooked and cheaper.
