No Fare Hike For Harsens Island Ferry

(Clay Township-WWJ) The Michigan Public Service Commission has decided to freeze rates for those who utilitze the Harsens Island ferry in Lake St. Clair, for now.

The ferry's owner, Champion's Auto Ferry, requested a one dollar across-the-board increase, to take effect January first.

The company asked that round-trip fares for cars increase to eight dollars, motorcycles to four dollars, and multi-axle vehicles go from 15 dollars to 16.

The PSC staff and company representatives have agreed to postpone any increase until April first, or until the commission takes further action.

Harsens Island is in Clay Township, in St. Clair County.
