Workout Resolutions Popular For Start Of New Year

FARMINGTON (WWJ) - If you're starting 2012 by working out -- it's a poplar thing to do.  At Fitness 19 in downtown Farmington there was a good crowd working out -- mostly regulars, but some like Mary Jane Fenech of Livonia are committing to exercise and say it helps relieve stress.

WWJ's Beth Fisher asked Fenech if she had any new goals?

"Just maintaining, taking care of my insides ... maybe toning even more, you know ... everyone looks at themselves and thinks 'I could do that much better,'" said Fenech.

Fenech works out a few times a week.

Scott Carter of Farmington Hills said he's happy to get back into fitness. "I've been coming in pretty good all year, but I kind of slacked off a little bit with my schedule, kids and all that and I'm trying to recommit and the pounds that I've gained, I'm going to try to take back off," said Carter. Ellen Reith of Farmington Hills has resolved to commit herself to losing weight. "That's my goal - always, trying to lose weight," said Reith.

While the manager, Derrick Ritenour, at Fitness 19 says they'll see a lot of new members in the coming weeks -some who may not stick with it.

Ritenhour said they have a fitness challenge with prizes for the top three to keep people motivated on their fitness goal.
