UD-Mercy Looks To Re-Establish Scholarship In Name Of Sam Logan

DETROIT (WWJ) - The University of Detroit-Mercy is in the process of re-establishing a scholarship in the name of late Michigan Chronicle publisher Sam Logan.

UD-M President Antoine Garibaldi says the endowed scholarship would be available to students who are in financial difficulty or who show outstanding promise.

Exactly what criteria qualifying students will need to meet has yet to be determined.

"We are actually working with the family on those details right now, we want to make sure that it is something that they would be interested in; also in terms of where the student may come from - it could be a student from the Detroit area it could be a student who is majoring in business," said Garibaldi.

Contributions are also being sought to fund the scholarship with an eye towards offering assistance to more than one student per year - you can find out more here.
