N.Y. Islanders 5, Red Wings 1

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (WWJ/AP) - Justin Abdelkader had the lone goal for Detroit as the Red Wings fall to the New York Islanders 5-1 on Tuesday night.

Ty Conklin stopped 25 shots for Detroit, which was without leading-scorer Pavel Datsyuk, who sat out due to an undisclosed lower body injury.

Justin Abdelkader spoiled Nabokov's shutout bid 2:36 into the third when he pulled the Red Wings to 4-1.

John Tavares had a goal and assist in the second period, shortly after being struck in the head with a puck, and Evgeni Nabokov made 23 saves in the New York win.

Matt Moulson had two goals, and Kyle Okposo and Michael Grabner also scored for the Islanders.
