Police Question Husband Of Grosse Pointe Murder Victim

GROSSE POINT PARK (WWJ) - Authorities in Grosse Pointe Park are investigating the strangulation death of a 56-year-old woman ...  and have identified her husband as a person of interest.

Jane Bashara's body was found in the back of her car on the city's East side Wednesday after her husband reported her missing the night before.

Grosse Pointe Police Chief David Hiller spoke with WWJ and says they questioned the woman's husband, Bob Bashara, and searched his home Friday night.

"He has continued to fully cooporate with our investigation - there was evidence he's at his residence - it has been turned over to investigators for their analysis and review," said Hiller.

A woman familiar with the couple says she doesn't believe Bob Bashara had anything to do with his wife's death. Rita Koupparis works at Fairfax Quality Market, where the couple stopped several times a week.

"Something like that - it is (a) surprise, now you get surprise and you get upset - it's upsetting  for a person like that ... the way she died ... you don't wish that on your worst enemy," said Koupparis.

Police are now analyzing evidence taken from Bashara's house.

There have been no arrests in the case.

Funeral arrangements are set for Tuesday.
