New Changepoint Software From Compuware

DETROIT -- Compuware Corp. (Nasdaq:CPWR) Tuesday announced the latest edition of its market-leading professional services automation software, Compuware Changepoint.

Changepoint now offers industry-leading resource management capabilities to help professional services organizations with growing, diverse resource pools plan, manage and deploy resources with maximum effectiveness.

"Resource management is a critical issue for our clients," said Dan Stang, research director at the independent analysis firm Gartner Inc. "The companies we talk to are all seeking to manage resources more efficiently, understand resource capacity and its relationship to demand, and increase utilization wherever possible. It is a topic that is consistently emerging as a key area of focus in our client inquiries."

Added Lori Ellsworth, senior vice president and general manager of Compuware's Changepoint business unit: "Over the last year and a half, resource management has become the number one topic of interest among our customers. Customers are looking to us to lead them in developing best practices in this field, and to fully automate their resource planning and management processes. Input from our Changepoint user community was instrumental in shaping Changepoint's resource management worksheet, a new capability that we believe will radically improve our customers' ability to maximize margin, increase utilization, reduce bench time and improve communication and collaboration between project managers and resource managers."

Available to customers as a free upgrade, Changepoint's resource management worksheet offers industry-leading resource management functionality combined with improved speed and performance, enhanced usability and flexibility, and dynamic data management.

With Changepoint's resource management worksheet, users can better plan and manage resource demand -- reviewing and balancing current workloads for resources, reviewing future resource requirements in the context of upcoming opportunities and projects and proactively taking action to satisfy those requirements, and quickly staffing up new projects or other types of work.

The software also offers more option around re-assigning demand among resources, featuring "drag and drop" capability to add, change, or augment resource assignments directly in the worksheet, and offering a resource dialogue to allow for reassignment and or redistribution of effort from one resource to multiple resources.

The software also offers "what-if" scenarios to allow resource managers to share scenarios of potential changes for approval, and real-time visibility and updates so users can evaluate impact immediately.

Key areas of enhancement in Changepoint SP3 include improved performance and scalability through the use of Microsoft Silverlight technology and greater flexibility in creating views and filters specific to each user's needs.
