Police: Man Swipes Charity Jar From Coffee Shop Counter

SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) - A 21-year-old Shelby Township man has been arrested after police say he stole a charity jar from the Biggby Coffee shop on Van Dyke.

According to police, Bryan Burrows walked into the café and took the Fallen Hero's Memorial Fund jar from the counter. It contained several hundred dollars in donations.

Burrows was caught on video and several people witnessed the alleged theft. Police said he was arrested within an hour.

Burrows was charged with larceny from building and possession of narcotics and was arraigned Tuesday at the 41-A District court in Shelby Township. Bond was set at $7,500 on each charge.

Burrows is expected back in court for a preliminary exam in two weeks.
