Prowler On Parole Arrested In Ferndale

FERNDALE (WWJ) - Police arrested a parolee after residents in Ferndale complained about two men going through back yards.

Police say 24-year-old Daniel Johnson of Detroit was arrested around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday morning.

When police arrived in the area of Chesterfield Street and Hilton Road, police observed Johnson and another man emerging from the yard of a home. Police say once the men saw them, they took off running.

Officers say Johnson tried to hide but when he was found, he continued to flee. Two more officers joined the chase as Johnson ran south across 8 Mile road and over the fence into the old State Fair property. Johnson tried to hide again, but officers found him and made the arrest.

Although police did not find the other man, Johnson gave the name of who he claimed was with him and also told officers that the other suspect had a pistol.

Johnson, who is currently on parole for convictions of home invasion, larceny and resisting police, faces penalties for violating conditions of his parole and  is charged with resisting/obstructing police. He is being held on $10,000 bond.
