Red Wings Assign Ty Conklin To Griffins

Detroit, MI...The Detroit Red Wings today announced that goaltender Ty Conklin has been assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Detroit has also announced that forward Dan Cleary has been removed from IR after missing the last five games with a lower body injury. Cleary is expected to be in the Red Wings' lineup tonight when they take on the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center (8:00 p.m. – FSD & 1270 AM WXYT).

Conklin, 35, has appeared in 11 games for Detroit this season, posting a 3.40 G.A.A. and an .878 SV% in addition to a 3-5-0 record. In 117 career appearances at the AHL level with Hamilton, Hartford, Syracuse and W-B Scranton, the veteran netminder is 48-46-4 (2.65 G.A.A., .914 SV%). Cleary, 33, had recorded six points in six games (1G-5A) prior to sustaining an injury during the Red Wings' February 8 home win over the Edmonton Oilers. The 6'0", 208-lb. winger has tallied 27 points (11G-16A) in 55 games thus far on the 2011-12 campaign.
