Event Notices From February 24-26

Michigan Land & Prosperity Summit Returning: The 2012 Michigan Land & Prosperity Summit will be held on Friday, April 20 at the MSU Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center in East Lansing. This annual event is co-hosted by the MSU Land Policy Institute and the Michigan Funders for Sustainable Regions. "Reinventing Michigan" continues to be a hot topic across the state, particularly with an ever-growing interest in and recognition of the importance of "place"-and the intersection of the economy, equity and the environment-in this resurgence. Building on the fast-pace and excitement of the 2011 Summit, this year will focus on "Moving Michigan Forward: People, Places and Progress" and further explore and showcase interesting and inspiring models involving the public and private sectors, various interests and regions working to move the state forward and reinvent Michigan. Statewide, leaders are working on an array of crucial issues to help Michigan communities continue to rebound from the economic recession. Co-sponsored by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, a proponent of place and sustainable communities, the Summit will provide an opportunity for thought leaders, academics and implementers of best practices to share their strategies and expertise on a variety of topics including arts and culture, innovation and entrepreneurship, partnering for prosperity and preservation, placemaking, transportation, and the urban-metropolitan agenda. Registration is available online. Cost to attend is $55 per person ($20 for students) and includes conference materials and meals. A limited number of Travel or Tuition Scholarships are also available on a first-come, first-served basis. More at www.milandandprosperitysummit.org/
