Appia Communications Awarded Patent in Network Security

TRAVERSE CITY --  Appia Communications announced Thursday that it had been awarded United States Patent No. 8,132,245, covering "Local area network certification system and method."

The patent is for the underlying technology of AppiaSecure, which combines routing, firewall, and security management functions in a single appliance.

Victor von Schlegell, Appia president and inventor of the system, said the Patent Office recognized that "our approach to comprehensive network security is unique. We verify each user and check their PC for viruses, upgrades, and so forth, before they access the network. This keeps both the user and sensitive network resources safe."

Appia Communications announced in January that its claims for the AppiaSecure technology had been accepted by the United States Patent Office.   For more information about Appia Communications, please contact your Appia partner, call (877) 277-4297, or visit www.appiaservices.com.
