Get Your DIY Fix At The Michigan Home And Garden Show

PONTIAC (WWJ) - It's a sign of Spring time: The 21st Annual Michigan Home and Garden Show is back at the Pontiac Silverdome. The show features ideas about landscaping, gardening and home improvement.

Mike Willbraham, show producer, said visitors can expect to see a little something from all the major home product categories.

"We have three seminar stages, a cooking stage, a home improvement stage and a garden stage, filled with experts who are teaching new recipes or design ideas for your kitchen or landscape suggestions. There's all kinds of different ways to learn from the experts down here," said Willbraham.

Show-goers can attend the free educational seminars and how-to demonstrations for new ideas, compare products and services and find professionals for landscaping, building, remodeling, do-it-yourself and home decorating projects.

Visitors can also learn strange but useful household tips from author Joey Green during his "Wacky Uses for Brand Name Products" presentation, such as polishing furniture with Spam, removing carpet stains with Pampers and cleaning diamond rings with Efferdent.

You'll also have a chance to see Twiggy, the famous "Water Skiing Squirrel," who wears a life jacket and rides on water skis behind a remote-controlled boat in a custom-made swimming pool. Read more, here.

Show hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-14 and free for children 5 and under. The Silverdome is located at 1200 Featherstone Road, north of M-59 and west of Opdyke Road, in Pontiac.
