Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Drivers in Metro Detroit will be able to get around pretty easily this weekend. Aside from some intermittent lane closures, highway driving should be smooth sailing.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-96:

In Wayne County, a permit has been approved allowing for the full closure of eastbound and westbound I-96 at Beech Daly in order to string new cable above the freeway. The 15-minute closure will take place Sunday between 7:30 a.m. until 8 a.m. with Michigan State Police assistance.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the left lane of westbound I-696 will be closed at Van Dyke from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday for median barrier wall work.

M-39:

In Wayne County, the ramp from northbound M-39 to Van Born Road will be closed from 9 a.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work.

In Wayne County, the two left lanes of northbound M-39 will be closed from Allen Road to Outer Drive from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work.

I-75:

In Wayne County, the right lane of northbound and southbound I-75 is closed at Dix-Toledo Road for bridge work. The right lanes will remain closed until November as crews work this summer to construct a new overpass and rebuild one mile of I-75 between King and Sibley roads.
