DETROIT (WWJ) – An Iraqi woman who once lived in Dearborn has been killed in an apparent hate crime.
Thirty-two-year-Shaima Alawadi was found brutally beaten and unconscious in her home outside of San Diego Wednesday with a note that read “go back to your country.”

“The family is still in a psychological numbness, I guess … they still can’t believe that this is actually happening to them,”

“Our community needs to take any kind of threat seriously and report it, my understanding is that the family recieved some kind of a note, you know, a few weeks before that they kind of dismissed. It was along the lines of ‘you terrorists go back home’,” said Mohebi.
Alwadi leaves five children and a husband behind.
