Mark Kelly To Speak To Brain Injury Group In Novi On Saturday

DETROIT (WWJ) - A little more than a year after former U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head in Arizona, her husband says she's doing great.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Beth Fisher reports former astronaut Mark Kelly will be in Novi Saturday night speaking to the Brain Injury Association of Michigan.

"She reminds me everyday, to deny the acceptance of failure, and she works really hard, and I'm confident that one day she will be back, in some sort of public service, it might be in congress - it might not. You know, we don't know," said Kelly.

Kelly says Giffords is working on her recovery from a traumatic brain injury with almost daily therapy.

Kelly co-wrote the book, "Gabby-A Story of Courage and Hope" with the late Jeff Zaslow of West Bloomfield and  says Gabby's shooting along with Zaslow's death show that life can change in an instant and to appreciate what you have.
