HFCC President Gail Mee Wins National Leadership Award: The Chair Academy has named Gail Mee, president of Henry Ford Community College, the recipient of the 2012 Idahlynn Kárre International Exemplary Leadership Award. Mee, who has been the president of HFCC since 2006, was recognized for her ability to advance academic and administrative leadership in the field of higher education. She was nominated by faculty and administrators. The nomination said, in part, "Through her vision and ability to 'challenge the process,' Dr. Gail Mee has enabled the institution to grow physically and academically, to improve its ability to address the needs of the community in times of economic crisis, and to seek opportunities for innovation in the educational arena." The Chair Academy is an organization dedicated to developing and advancing leadership in academia and administration for post-secondary educational institutions worldwide. The Idahlynn Kárre International Exemplary Leadership Award is named after Idahlynn Kárre, an international educational consultant and speaker who has been a professor, administrator, author, international speaker, and leader of education innovation in a career spanning 42 years. Prior to her arrival at HFCC in 2006, Mee served as vice president of Academic Affairs for nearly a decade at Mesa Community College, which is part of the Maricopa County Community College District in Arizona. She has also been a consultant for the American Association of Higher Education in Washington, D.C., as well as for the United States Military Academy at West Point in West Point, N.Y. An active member in many national and local organizations, Mee is a member of the Advisory Committee of Presidents of the Association of Community College Trustees, the Board of Directors of Henry Ford Hospital and Health Network, the Board of Directors of the Engineering Society of Detroit, the Executive Board of Directors of the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce, the Dearborn Symphony Board of Directors, and the Dearborn Community Arts Council Board of Directors.

Plex Named Finalist For Three CODiE Awards: Plex Systems Inc., provider of Plex Online, Cloud ERP for manufacturers, today announced that it has been named a finalist in three categories of the Software & Information Industry Association's 27th annual CODiE Awards. Winners will be announced May 10 during the All About the Cloud Conference at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, Calif., where Plex Systems CEO Mark Symonds will co-present "Customer Satisfaction: Trust and Transparency in the Cloud" from 12:05 to 12:50 p.m. on May 10. Plex Online has been nominated for Best Supply Chain Management System, which recognizes the best solution in the movement and storage of materials and equipment from point of origin to point of consumption; Best Business or Competitive Intelligence Solution, which best facilitates analysis of data, research and/or competitive information to enable business managers to make strategic decisions; and Best Document Management Solution, which recognizes the best software solution for managing the document life cycle. The CODiE Awards are presented by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) and hold the distinction of being the industry's only peer-reviewed awards program. Established in 1986 so that pioneers of the then-nascent software industry could evaluate and honor each other's work, the CODiE Awards have carried out the same purpose ever since: to showcase the software and information industry's finest products and services and to honor excellence in corporate achievement.
