Ship Runs Aground In Lake Michigan, All Aboard Safe

MANISTEE (WWJ) - The U.S. Coast Guard says a large ship has run aground in Lake Michigan near Manistee. The Coast Guard says there were 17 people aboard the Invincible, but they're all ok.

The Coast Guard says the ship - described as a combination of a tug boat and a barge - is not in danger of tipping over and will be guided across the lake to Sturgeon Bay in Wisconsin.

The grounding damaged a shaft in the engine room, causing it to take on water at a rate of two gallons a minute.

The water has now been been pumped out.
