Centennial Remembrance Of The Sinking Of The Titanic
DETROIT (WWJ) - It was 100 years ago Sunday that the Titanic sank in the Atlantic Ocean and more than 1,500 people were killed.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at Mariner's Church in Detroit.
A survivor of the Andrea Doria shipwreck in 1956, Pierette Simpson, of Novi, will be there.
"It is to honor the memory of those that were lost, those 1,500 souls that never had a chance as they waited for the Carpathia to come and save them for hours after the incident."
You can hear the complete interview with Simpson below:

Simpson says she can relate to those who survived the Titanic because many survivors of the Andrea Doria-Stockholm collision suffered post traumatic stress disorder.
