Residents in those areas now have the option to turn their depreciating roof into an asset that not only protects from the elements, but also generates energy, while increasing the value of their home.

Powerhouse shingles combine the performance and protection of a conventional asphalt roof with an integrated solar cell that powers the home and saves the homeowner money. It is designed to install, look and function in a way that has never been done before with a traditional roof or solar system.

The Powerhouse System includes a custom designed array that fits the homeowner’s goals and complements the home’s style; an inverter that converts the Direct Current generated by solar panels into alternating current to power the home; and a monitoring system delivering real-time production and consumption readouts from any Internet connection. Dow can also monitor each system to ensure optimal performance and provide real-time feedback on individual systems.

Made in the United States and backed by a 20 year warranty from Dow Chemical, the Powerhouse Solar Shingle is also certified as both a solar and roofing product. It has received seven performance and safety certifications, including the backing of Underwriters Laboratories, the International Code Council Evaluation Service and is proven to withstand rain, hail and wind uplift.
