Do You Know Metro Detroit's 'Top Teacher'?
DETROIT (WWJ) - Panera Bread is launching a contest searching for Metro Detroit's Top Teacher.
WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Courtney Rocchio, Detroit Marketing Manager for Panera.
"The winner will receive a $200 Panera gift card. They'll win breakfast for their classroom. They'll also receive a $100 gift card for classroom supplies," Rocchio. "As we know, a lot of our teachers, locally and nationally, spend a lot of their hard-earned dollars on school supplies for their own classroom."
Rocchio said the person who nominates the winning teacher will be entered to win an e-reader and a $40 gift card -- and anyone can make a nomination.
"So, it can be students, parents. It could be other teachers, it could be principals," she said.
Each nomination will also trigger $1 donation to the United Way for Southeast Michigan's summer backpack program for hunger relief.
Anyone who knows of a deserving teacher can visit www.panerabread.com/topteacher to submit their nomination.
Submissions are due by Friday, April 30. Winners will be announced during National Teacher's Week May 7-11.
