New Software From TechSmith, Camtasia for Mac 2.1

OKEMOS -- TechSmith Corp. Tuesday released Camtasia for Mac 2.1, which the company said marks a major update for the screen recording and editing system on the Mac platform.

Designed specifically to give non-video pros the ability to record, edit and polish video off the computer screen, this new version of Camtasia for Mac combines superior recording performance and ease-of-use while offering some commonly requested features -- Clip Speed, a new option that adjusts pitch for audio, and a new Remove A Color (Chroma key) feature for creating green screen special effects like meteorologists on television.

Designed for Mac users and non-video professionals who want to create professional, informational screencasts, Camtasia for Mac enables users to record, edit and publish videos without the cost and complexity of professional systems.

"For non-video professionals, buying a professional video editing suite costing hundreds to thousands of dollars is simply overkill -- there are too many unnecessary features that get in the way of creating informative videos on time and in budget," said Shane Lovellette, Camtasia for Mac product manager at TechSmith. "Thanks to recent updates, Camtasia for Mac continues to evolve into the best visual communications solution for all Mac users, especially small and medium-sized businesses looking for professional video solutions at a friendly price point. The latest version of Camtasia for Mac provides anyone with an easy-to-use screencasting solution to create sleek video tutorials, case studies, training clips and more. Quite simply, Camtasia for Mac helps non-video experts share expertise through video so their creativity, energy and imagination enhance the viewers experience and understanding of the material."

"Camtasia for Mac is the best tool new video makers can use for any screencasting or splicing project as it takes little training to get up and running and produce your first video," said Jay Bailey, CEO and Creative Director of RapidFire Consulting, a custom Web demo and marketing video business. "Many products have a steep learning curve, and the irony is that you don't use most of the features. Camtasia is intuitive and in minutes you're editing video like a pro."

A free, 30-day trial of Camtasia for Mac 2.1 is available at www.techsmith.com/camtasia.html.

New users can purchase the software for $99; Camtasia for Mac 1.x users can upgrade to version 2.1 for $49.50 per user; existing Camtasia for Mac 2.0 users can upgrade to version 2.1 for free. Camtasia for Mac 2.1 will also be available in the Mac App Store.

New Features:
•Clip Speed (time-stretching) with automatic audio adjustment enables users to quickly speed up (shorten) or slow down (lengthen) video clips without audio distortion.
•Remove A Color (Chroma Key/Green Screen) provides users with more options to adjust video coloring, including the ability to create a green screen effect, removing any color from video to achieve transparency just like meteorologists on television.
