Auto Supplier Announces Expansion, Jobs

NEW BOSTON (WWJ/AP) - An auto parts supplier says it plans to buy a manufacturing facility in southeast Michigan and add about 450 new full time engineering and manufacturing jobs in the state.

Brose North America Inc. on Monday announced an agreement to buy the 380,000-square-foot facility in New Boston, near Detroit Metro Airport.

The company says it will be its third facility in Michigan and will be its ninth in North America. It's increasing its capacity for door modules and seat structures.

"Brose, with 650 employees currently in Michigan, is a global leader and vital to our automotive supply chain," said Governor Rick Snyder in a statement released Monday.  "The company's decision to invest so heavily in Michigan is a strong statement of the great opportunities that, thanks to our business climate improvements, means Michigan offers growing companies one of the best business climates in the country."

Brose North America's regional headquarters is in Auburn Hills.
