Actorfest: Casting Calls, Workshops This Saturday

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Think you could be the next big star?

If the answer is yes, you'll want to check out "Actorfest" taking place this Saturday, May 18, at the Raleigh Studios in Pontiac.

Talking to WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeil, spokesperson Sanford Nelson said Actorfest is for anyone who wants to break in to the industry, and there is no charge for admission.

"It's a completely free event, very interactive, lots of different activities and workshops," Nelson said.

"And there's gonna actually  be casting calls. We've got four different people coming to cast roles in movies as well as Real Style which will be casting for extra roles in Category 6, which is an upcoming film that will be shooting in Michigan this summer," he said.

The casting calls are for all kinds of parts from a preacher to a farmer to a no-nonsense high school teacher to an introverted grad student. The event will also feature workshops by casting directors, working actors, talent agents and teachers.

Nelson said the festival has been held in LA for the past 20 years but this is the first time the organizer has branched out to other states.

The event runs from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
